*** NEWSFLASH UPDATE *** from Canadian Nationals
Our Cathy Southwell and Neyonlites had a spectacular ride in their Hunter Pleasure AAOTR class! They did not make the TOP 10, but they did make Gary Dearth's Judges card. The other two Judges were looking for very stocky Western style horses. . . and as we know that is not Neyonlites! The wonderful part is the rides were so good, that it was a matter of personal preference of the Judges. There were 32 total horses in her class. . . so to make the Judges card was a big Feat!!! Look it up on the IAHA results website ( CLASS # 294 )
Our friends LaRay Powell of Silver Aspen Ranch will be hauling Neoyonlites stateside for us. We'll go up to Washington and pick him up after I fly home. I'm sure they'll take good care of him. THANK you Donna Fletcher and LaRay & Rod Powell for offering this ride to Neyonlites. HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU ALL AND I'LL TALK TO YOU LATER

*** NEWFLASH *** from Canadian Nationals

There are 1000 horses competing at the Canadian Nationals this year. Of those 1000 horses only four are from British Columbia. From those four, two are half Arabian and in their own division. Of the purebreds one is a junior riders horse. Our Cathy Wilson and Neyonlites represent the whole of British Columbia. There are over 600,000 Arabians in the US and Canada, so as you can see . . . this is no small Feat. When we get back, we will let you know how we did !!!

We just got through the "Blues" show in Eugene. All went well. The turnout was light but the weather was good, not those 90 to 100 degree days we had been experiencing. Lynnie sold her horse "jewellie" to a wonderful family from California, and they flew up to show Jewellie at the show. Brenda McGuinness and her daughter, Kristin arrived just before show time. We had no time to put Kristin and Jewellie together, plus we had hauled Jewellie out of pasture that she had been roaming in for the past year while Lynnie was riding and showing Baby D so our goal was to "have fun" and we sure did.

Eydne and her husband Peter were there. Eydne rode her leased mare, Juleeda and had a much easier time of it then the week before. This time Juleeda didn't run backwards or make such a scene. She went down the rail quietly (tired from the heavy show schedule 7 days earlier). She was not smoothed out on her rating, a bit hesitant or choppy but relaxed and happy, as was Edyne. Unfortunately they only got one or two low ribbons, but after all they are just starting. Lynnie and Baby D tried their hand almost all western, they also were in the ribbon, only one second place, not like her English which is a real winning combination.

Our best of show was Kristin and Jewellie. They came out with two fourths, a second and two championship ribbons in western. THEN we all went shopping the next day at the Double H Store. Kristin got a gorgeous new "Kathy's" saddle on a sale price and we found a lovely silver bridle and breast collar set at another store. This team is ready to go!! LOOK OUT LAGUNA HILLS California!!!! The only sad part is we will be saying goodbye to Jewellie as she is going south to be with her new family. The wonderful part of Jewellie leaving is she and Kristin look and work so well together, I know they are going to have many many wonderful years together. Plus they better notify me of all the fun they will have!!!

After the show Laura Venne who owns Trubadormadrigal, the sire to our new colt out of Charismajestic (aka"Baby") came by. She was most stunned and happy at the quality of "trumajestic" (pending). He has the best qualities of both his sire and dam. We are happy to say she felt he was one of Truman's best offspring and hoped we will be bringing "Baby" back to him (we sure will because that is one FINE colt!) As many of you know the stallion we leased from Georgia Cheer, Silver Monarch, is returned home. He is such a fine horse but was not thriving here at the ranch. We miss his presence in the barn and hope he is doing well in his new retirement.

I am getting ready to go to Canada for the Canadian Nationals. Once again our hero, Neyonlites is competing. We do not expect much because of all the moving and life changes his family has had to go through lately but we will be there and participating. Wouldn't you know it, just when the weather is nice and cool here we have to go where it is real hot again!!!

Happy Trails to everyone from HORSE ACADEMY
